WSOP third round has 369 poker players left
July 12 As the WSOP starts to wind down, many online poker players are wondering who will win. Many Texas Holdem fans are waiting with baited breath. The number of poker players left at this years event, the biggest ever, is down 569. As tensions flare, clearly this day was about making money. At this point, nearly all of the players left in the no-limit Texas Holdem poker event, which started back up on Monday, will go home with at least 12,500 each. Out of 5,619 players that started in the World Series of Poker, only about 560 of them will make money. That is the point we are at now. Now that the poker event is getting down to the nitty-gritty, online poker enthusiasts and players are all getting excited. They remaining players in the event are even more excited. Each is poised and ready to make their move to the final table of just 9 players. The final player and winner of the WSOP will earn a whopping $7.5 million. This is the highest amount ever won in this event. Greg Raymer AKA Fossilman, is still in the game. He won the event last year. Holding strong in 9th place, he still has a heap of chips in front of him. A most exciting moment for Raymer was when won a hand for $185,000 by catching a full house (7s over 8s) on the last card. A major thing to note regarding this year's event is that the pros have been dropping like flies - and early on, too. Only Raymer remains out of the fourteen finalists from last year that started playing in this years poker event. At this point, there really isn't a favored player, but Fossilman is proving that he is a force to be reckoned with. Leader Rod Pardey Jr. of Las Vegas still has about $750,000 in chips, with many tough players left to beat. Be sure to check back tomorrow for the latest developments on the 2005 World Series of Poker.
