Online Poker Games

Texas Hold ‘Em, Omaha Hi/Lo, and Seven Card Stud are some of the most popular variations of Online Poker, and with the ever-increasing popularity of these poker games, we thought it would be nice to offer a general overview of each of these online poker games.

Texas Hold ‘Em Poker is an easy game to learn. The betting begins with posting the blinds, which is the placing of a pre-determined amount into the pot by the two players on the left of the dealer. All poker players are dealt two cards face down (a.k.a. hole cards) and then a round of betting starts with the person to the left of the people who posted the blinds. Next, the dealer burns a card before dealing the Flop, which are the first three community cards, there is another round of betting that starts with the player to the left of the dealer. The dealer burns another card and deals the Turn card, the fourth of five community cards. Another round of betting begins with the player to the left of the dealer and the dealer burns a final card before dealing the River, which is the final community card. There is one last round of betting before the remaining players reveal their hands beginning with the player to the left of the last player to call.

Omaha Hi/Lo is a community card game, like, in that regard, Texas Hold ‘Em. Each online poker player is dealt four cards face down and a community pot of five face up cards at the center of the table. Omaha Hi/Lo is played using a dealer button to mark which player would be the dealer in that round if the casino didn’t have a set dealer. The button goes around the table in a clockwise fashion between each hand. Its important for the players to know who the dealer would be because the “dealer” is the last to take his/her turn and has the best advantage for that hand. The objective of the game is to make your best five-card high hand and your best five-card low hand, using only two hole cards and three board cards. You can use different cards for you low and high hands, as long as you only use two hole and three board cards for each hand. The person who hold the best high hand wins half the pot and the person with the lowest hand wins the other half of the pot. If there isn’t a qualifying low hand, the high hand winner takes the whole pot.

In Seven Card Stud, a maximum of eight players can sit at the table. Not including the ante, there are five betting rounds in a complete game of Seven Card Stud. . Each player, starting from the seat to the left of the dealer button position, is dealt two cards face down, then four cards face up, and the final (river) card is dealt face down. The player with the lowest face up card is required to initiate action by betting a minimum of half the lower limit. After the initial round of betting, all other rounds start with the player with the high hand on board initiating the betting action. In cases of a tie, the player to the left of the dealer initiates the betting action. As in other poker games, these steps repeat until only one player remains.
